One of the most important things to organise is the TRIAL appointment.  A trial is the opportunity for you to see the look you are wanting to achieve before your wedding / event day. This is the day when Toni will discuss with you, all the details of how your hair and makeup will look.

Ideally, it is best to book a trial 2- 6 months before your wedding day, but can be done further ahead if required.  Where possible have a trial well in advance of your wedding, this is beneficial as your hair may need to grow longer for your desired style, Toni will discuss if you need to grow your hair length, improve the condition with conditioning treatments and can offer advice on a possible change of colour or highlights. Trials are booked in around wedding bookings so weekend availability may be limited or restricted in the timings available but are definitely possible - Toni will try and accommodate your preference for a trial appointment time. If you require a make-up artist, a joint Hair and Make-up trial can be arranged. For the trials Toni asks for you to meet with her at her residence in Belmont, Brisbane (near Carindale).

A reduced price trial for the bride is offered for hair trials on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during the day at $60, or $85 on Saturday. Bridesmaids may also have trials and is $85 per person.

If you like, compiling a scrap book of images that appeal to you and bringing them to the trial will help give a clear idea of the look you want to achieve. Keep in mind if your hair is thick/long enough for the style you like and if some styles will allow you to wear a headpiece, veil or hat. Some styles may require extra hair in the form of hair extensions to achieve the look you are after or possibly even hair padding.

Bring your chosen hair accessories to the trial – veil, tiara, fascinator, if you already have them, so they can be worked into the style. The finished look will be photographed at your trial for future reference. As well as the photo’s shown in the Gallery, and Love Letter’s, Toni has an extensive portfolio of her bridal hairstyles and will have these for your perusal at your trial. Combined with an extensive knowledge gathered from years of experience, Toni can help advise you on what styles will best suit you on the day.

Your choice of hairstyle ultimately depends on your personal preference, though some considerations that may greatly influence your choice of style are:

  • The time of year your wedding falls - if it is known to be windy weather, or hot and humid weather, as this can turn long hair limp.

  • The time of the ceremony - is it day or night?

  • Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

After taking all these things into consideration a guideline to follow is:

  • All Up: This look is very glamorous and stylish, suitable for both day and evening ceremonies. Very sturdy and will last all day and night.

  • Half up/down: This is a romantic look, very young and youthful. Normally a day style but does transform well to evening wear. Still sturdy and should last all day and night depending on the hair type and weather, but curls may soften.

  • All down: The look is romantic and modern but normally considered more for the daytime than for evenings. Not as practical for outdoor weddings as this style won't last as long as the other two.

Hopefully this information has given you a few ideas and inspiration. Toni looks forward to discussing your requirements for a trial or wedding day appointment.
